Real Life College Minister – Oregon State University, Short-term Missions
Chad was born and raised on a dairy farm near Astoria, Oregon. He is the youngest of three boys to Harold and Janice Weaver. His family has attended the same church most of his life and he grew up in a great Christian environment. He gave his heart to Jesus at a young age at a puppet show. All though there were ups and downs through high school, he always tried to follow God. In 2001 he came to Oregon State University and lived on campus and met some amazing friends that were Jesus freaks! He grew up reading the Word, but had never worked through books in the Bible verse-by-verse, chapter by chapter. As he was around his new friends his passion for Jesus and His Word increased. He began to experience more of His grace then ever before.
At the beginning of college is also when he discovered Real Life Ministries (College ministry of Calvary Chapel) with his friends, as well. All through college he served any way possible, setting up and tearing down Tuesday nights on campus, leading small groups, and retreats. When completing his Bachelor’s degree in 2005, he went to the School of Ministry (SOM) for a year. This year was foundational in giving him tools for ministry. After finishing SOM he decided to finish his Master’s degree at Oregon State to be a high school teacher, but at the end of his Master’s degree the Real Life pastor in 2007 asked him to come on staff full-time. So after praying about it for a season, Chad took a step of faith in summer of 2007 and began raising support to do ministry full-time with Real Life at Oregon State, and in spring 2016 became the college pastor at Calvary Chapel Corvallis.
He has loved serving in the ministry and God continues to teach him a lot through His Word, prayer, and the people Chad serves and works with. In 2004 his uncle took him on his first mission’s trip to serve in Jamaica. Having never traveled out of the US, it was an eye-opening experience, seeing all the poverty, yet the people had so much joy. He caught an excitement for the nations and a desire “to go” wherever God leads, especially for those suffering and haven’t heard the good news of Jesus. In 2006 he went on a Real Life outreach team to Brazil, and after that starting leading college teams during the summers all throughout the world to serve the local churches. He has led teams to Nigeria in 2008-09, Jamaica in 2011, Haiti in 2012, Singapore 2013, and Guatemala in 2013. Chad oversees the summer short-term mission trips at Calvary Chapel Corvallis.
On August 20, 2011 Chad married his best friend Bethany. They had met at a missions Conference in California in the beginning of January 2009. Leaving the conference little did they know they would stay in touch, begin dating long-distance, and she would move to Oregon with her work, so they could be closer to deepen their relationship, and they would get married. She grew up in Tucson, Arizona. Bethany has always had a passion for God’s Word and prayer, and a heart for missions. Like Chad, she loves people and serves alongside him at the college ministry. She is full-time mommy to Claire and Caleb, and still works some as an ICU nurse.
