Biography:
Celso was delivered from religious legalism as God began to reveal the gospel of grace to him. God opened doors for Celso to attend Bible College in Seigen, Germany and returned to his native land of Brazil to become the first Brazilian Calvary Chapel senior pastor. The church began to flourish under the leadership of this man of faith. Celso and Tatiana were married in October, 2007 and continue to serve God together in ministry. God has blessed Celso and Tatiana, and the church he leads, with friends all around the world.

The church:
Celso is the pastor of “Capela do Calvário de Sāo Vicente”, the first Calvary Chapel fellowship established in Brazil in 2000. The church is growing with regular Bible studies on Sunday and Wednesday nights, prayer on Saturday night. Men’s and women’s discipleship groups are thriving as well as an effective outreach to families living in a favella called “Mexico 70”. The church has recently purchased property and is in the initial stages of plans to build their own facility.

The city:
Sao Vicente was the first city founded by the Portuguese in 1532. It shares a land area known as Sao Vicente Island with the city of Santos, the largest seaport in South America. The combined population is 1.2 million.

The country:
Brazil, the 5th largest country, is a “melting pot” of nations. 53% European (Portuguese, Italian, Spanish and German), 34% Mixed race (Mestizo and Mulatto), 11% African, and 1% Asian. A nation of tremendous natural resources and significance in the world economically and culturally. However, the people of Brazil themselves are without question the most valuable resource this nation holds. Brazil is rapidly becoming one of the world’s leading missionary sending nations.
