Warren and Sheri started a cabinet business shortly after marrying in 1978. 25 years or so later, with his business thriving and at a time when others might be looking forward to retirement, God was stirring Warren’s heart for full time ministry. He attended Calvary Corvallis’s first School of Ministry in 1999. The vision of that school was to train and raise up pastors. After graduating Warren waited patiently for the Lord to open the right door.
It was almost 10 years later when in 2009, at a leadership prayer meeting, when God spoke to his heart that the time had come to sell their home, and their business and go to the mission field. It took some time, and a lot of confirmation from the Lord before Sheri was fully on board with the idea. God made his will plainly known to both of them. The Yoder’s obeyed the call of God, and in the midst of historic economic hard times, they miraculously sold their business and their home and prepared to move to Brazil.
In stead of a specific call to start a new church the Yoder’s discerned that they were uniquely called to assist, serve, and encourage the growing number of CC missionaries and pastors in Brazil. They began their Aquila and Priscilla journey in Brazil with seasons of ministry in Rio de Janeiro, Foz do Iquacu, Florianopolis, and Curitiba ministering to pastors and their families, and marriages within the church body.
